The Toddler Environment:
- Areas include Cognitive development; fine motor and gross motor development, language skills, social skills and sensory/perceptual development.
- Our activities are designed to develop hand-eye coordination and independence.
Toddler Program
Our Toddler Program has a licensed capacity of 15 children with a 1:5 teacher to child ratio. Our small class sizes provide our children their personal space and comfort in a small group learning environment.
Social and Emotional Developmental Goals:
- To help the child play independently with a larger group of children, and to share and take turns.
- To help the child follow the “Play safe” and safety rules.
- To help the child develop an interest in a variety of activities.
Language Goals:
- Follow simple instructions.
- Encourage the child to use language to communicate.
- Encourage the child to use proper manners.
- Singing simple and silly songs.
- Exposure to books, nursery rhymes, and storytelling to encourage early literacy.
- Introduction to phonics, the calendar, numbers, shapes, and colours.
- Encouraging the child to express themselves creatively by using arts and craft materials, dancing, and using musical instruments.
Self Help Goals:
- Wash hands (with assistance from the teacher).
- Tuck in a chair.
- Tidy up after a meal or a snack (older group).
- Eat with a spoon.
- Put on and remove their jackets and shoes (older group).
- Return activities to the shelf after every use.
- Tidy up the toys after playtime (with assistance from the teacher).
- Potty training (the child will be encouraged and reminded when ready).
