Programs at Follow the Child
Toddler Program
At Follow The Child Daycare, we believe in learning through play. We augment each day with our Elect and Montessori curriculum which includes pre-literacy and reading, language development, numeracy, artistic expression, music, movement, science and exploration. In our toddler program, each child’s individual needs are met by a daily scheduled program of the following:
- Structured indoor and outdoor activities
- Developmentally appropriate activities to foster the growth of self-help skills
- Language development
- Role Play, Discovery, Sensory Development, Reading
- Social awareness and positive problem solving
- Free Exploration through play
Preschool Program
Our Preschool Program is designed to prepare children for kindergarten and lifelong learning. The preschool program allows children to explore different activities within the classroom while becoming familiar with the daily routine that resembles the school system. Our preschool program complements the ELECT framework.
We intertwine our preschool program with the Montessori approach by using real life experiences as teaching guides, which provides our children with a solid foundation for future success.
School Age Program
Our school-age before and after school program, offers children a variety of age appropriate activities and choice on how they will spend their time, all in a setting that is child friendly and safe. We offer high-quality structured programs for skill development, balanced with time for play, socialization, and reflection. We have developed our own method of delivering care and education to school-aged children. Our philosophy is a blend of the best practices of Early Childhood Education, using Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years (How Does Learning Happen and the Early Learning for Every Child today- ELECT) the Toronto Middle Childhood Strategy, and The Assessment for Quality Improvement (AQI) as a guide.
We believe that engagement, expression, and belonging are key components to providing quality learning opportunities.
Summer Camps
During July and August, Follow the Child Daycare offers educational and engaging camps that promote a love of learning within each child. We offer high quality Summer Programs for ages 4 to 12 years based on STEM, art, dance and drama, music, sports, baking, nature, science, animals. Our children also have the opportunity to attend field trips and special events each week. Each week, students have an opportunity to build and strengthen social skills, leadership skills, and creativity. Our goal is to keep our children engaged and active, in a fun learning environment, throughout the summer. Daily hot lunch and snacks are provided, which makes the summer a little easier for parents!
School Breaks and PA Days
We offer childcare services on PA days, March Break and any school holidays. We provide fun and educational programming for children ages 4 to 12 years, based on the interest of the children. Programming includes, STEM challenges, art creation, music and drama, sports, baking, and so much more. Children are also offered a hot lunch and snacks.
